Vice President-elect Kamala Harris on Monday is scheduled to travel to Georgia to campaign for Democratic U.S. Senate candidates Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff.
The trip was announced by the Biden-Harris transition team on Friday.
Harris will appear at rallies in Columbus and Suwanee. Further details are to be released at a later time.
This will come after President-elect Joe Biden campaigned for Ossoff and Warnock this past Tuesday in Atlanta.
California’s junior senator, Harris has been ranked as the most liberal member of the U.S. Senate.
Biden during his Georgia speech said, “I need two senators from this state.”
“Send me these two men, and we will control the Senate and we will change the lives of people in Georgia,” he proclaimed.
Early voting is underway for the runoff contests. Warnock is matched up against U.S. Senator Kelly Loeffler (R-GA), while Ossoff faces U.S. Senator David Perdue (R-GA). The election will be held on January 5.
Republican surrogates have also been pouring into the Peach State, including six rallies by Vice President Mike Pence since November 3, one appearance thus far by President Donald J. Trump and several Georgia stops by Donald Trump, Jr. to occur this weekend.
Reacting to the announcement of Harris’ planned visit, Georgia GOP spokeswoman Abigail Sigler said, “Kamala Harris was ranked the most radical liberal in the Senate last year, and that’s a mantle she would pass on to Radical Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff if they were elected to the Senate. It’s no surprise she’s coming to campaign for them. Georgians should reject the Harris, Warnock, Ossoff socialist agenda that would destroy our country for generations to come.”
Perdue for Senate communications director John Burke commented, “Jon Ossoff can keep campaigning with as many socialists as he’d like – the more the merrier. Our offer to fly AOC down still stands too.”
