The Biden-Harris ticket will return to Georgia to campaign for Democratic Senate candidates Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock before Tuesday’s runoff election.
President-elect Joe Biden will appear at an event in Atlanta on Monday, the same day that President Donald Trump will hold a rally in Dalton for U.S. Senators David Perdue (R-GA) and Kelly Loeffler (R-GA).
This will come after Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) campaigns in Savannah on Sunday. During the ongoing runoff contests, Biden has made a previous visit to Atlanta, while Harris campaigned in Columbus and Suwanee.
Reacting to the Biden-Harris announcement, Perdue said in an interview with Fox News, “We’d like them to come on down.”
“I think he (Biden) had 75 people the last time he was here… We’re the last line of defense against this radical socialist agenda that they’re trying to perpetrate on America and they haven’t talked a lot about that lately, but in the presidential election that’s what you heard about. You hear of people like AOC threatening the leadership of the Democratic Party — Biden, Schumer, and Pelosi — to not back up from what they’ve committed to them.”
The Perdue campaign has consistently welcomed top-flight Democrats into the Peach State to campaign for Ossoff and Warnock. The GOP campaign even has offered to buy U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) a plane ticket to come campaign in Georgia — an invitation she has apparently refused while still backing Warnock and Ossoff remotely.
Perdue for Senate communications director John Burke previously commented, “Jon Ossoff can keep campaigning with as many socialists as he’d like – the more the merrier. Our offer to fly AOC down still stands too.”
