Trump rallies in Georgia ahead of Tuesday runoffs: ‘Most important vote you will ever cast’

The memo:

  • President Donald Trump headlined a campaign rally Monday night in Dalton, Georgia.
  • He traveled to the Peach State to support Senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler and Public Service Commissioner Bubba McDonald.
  • Georgia's runoff election is on Tuesday.

President Donald J. Trump on Monday night headlined an election eve rally in Dalton for the respective campaigns of U.S. Senators David Perdue (R-GA) and Kelly Loeffler (R-GA) and Public Service Commissioner Bubba McDonald.

In what could be the final campaign rally of his presidency, Trump stressed how important it is that Georgians get out the vote for the three Republican candidates in the Peach State’s runoff election on Tuesday.

Trump in his remarks noted that former Vice President Joe Biden had made a campaign stop in Georgia earlier the same day.

“Biden was here today also. They had fourteen people in three cars,” the president riffed.

“We’ve got to defeat the Democratic extremists,” Trump underlined, referring to Senate candidates Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock. “Tomorrow is a big day.”

He reassured his ardent supporters that Loeffler and Perdue are champions of the Trump agenda.

“Kelly fights for me. David fights for me,” Trump emphasized. “Don’t let the Democrats steal the U.S. Senate. … You’ve got to swarm [the polls] tomorrow.”

The president cautioned that victories for Ossoff and Warnock would lead to Democrats packing the courts, ending the filibuster and destroying religious liberty and the Second Amendment, among other radical proposals. “They’re bent on destroying our constitution and overthrowing America’s founding,” Trump advised. The president also underscored that Democrats would defund the police, open up America’s borders and tax Georgians’ life savings away.

“America as you know it will be over, and it will never — I believe — be able to come back again. It’ll be too far gone. Your vote tomorrow could be the last chance to save the America that we love. That’s why I’m here,” he added. “The far left wants to destroy our country, demolish our history and erase everything that we hold dear. This could be the most important vote you will ever cast for the rest of your life. It really could be. It’s so important. … If you don’t show up, the radical Democrats will win. … If you don’t go and vote, the socialists, the Marxists, will be in charge of our country. If you don’t fight to save your country with everything you have, you’re not going to have a country left. I love this state. This state’s been very good to me. And I love the people of this state. We can’t let that happen. The damage that they do will be permanent and will be irreversible. Can’t let it happen. Nothing and no one will be able to stop them [if Republicans lose on Tuesday]. These Senate seats are truly the last line of defense.”

Trump subsequently ripped into both Ossoff and Warnock.

“Jon Ossoff is an unhinged radical leftist,” the president warned, before explaining that Ossoff is compromised by and “weak on” China. “He’s not a senator.”

“Ossoff supports the largest tax hike in American history,” Trump stated. “If they get in — Warnock and Ossoff — you’re going to have the largest tax increase that you’ve ever had. It’ll be the largest tax increase in the history of our country. For what? The Green New Deal … which would crush middle-class parents trying to raise a family.”

He further bashed Ossoff and Warnock for supporting “the socialist takeover of American healthcare, which will lead to rationing, poverty and death.”

“If you vote for Jon Ossoff, he will attack our heroes,” Trump stressed. “He will destroy our economy. And he will betray you and your family — and it’ll happen very quickly. That’s why you must vote, and really importantly, get out tomorrow, vote for David Perdue. He’s a great gentleman. He loves you. And Georgia has another fantastic champion in Senator Kelly Loeffler.”

“Kelly is running against a hard-left extremist named Raphael Warnock. Warnock is the most radical and dangerous left-wing candidate ever to seek this office — and certainly in the state of Georgia, he does not have your values,” the president said. He also noted during the speech: “Over the last four years, David Perdue has been one of our greatest allies and strongest defenders in Washington.”

“The choice for the voters of Georgia could not be more clear,” Trump summarized. “Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock are fringe extremists who would wreck everything Georgia patriots hold dear to their hearts. Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue share your values… they want to defend your interests, and they will always put America first.”

He urged, “You must get out and vote tomorrow for David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler. With your help, we’re going to continue our mission to save America.”

In all, the president’s speech lasted well over one hour.

Reacting to the speech, RNC spokesperson Savannah Viar said in a statement, “President Trump’s return to the Peach State reinforces his commitment to turning out the vote for Senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler. Together, they are standing up against Jon Ossoff, Raphael Warnock and the radical left’s agenda of higher taxes, government-run health care and defunding the police.”

Of Biden’s visit, she added, “If Joe Biden is looking for a pair of Democrats who will back an extreme agenda of higher taxes, government-run health care and defunding the police, he’s come to the right place. Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock’s values continue to align with the far left and not with Georgians, which is why voters will reject them both tomorrow.”
